NHP: BRM Programme
The NHP BRM Programme offers its member’s active management of health related conditions
Both E-Med Rescue 24 and LifeLink EMS, besides others, are accredited service providers to the Fund.
NHP maintains two dedicated emergency contact numbers with E-Med Rescue 24 and Lifelink EMS, both being accredited service providers to the Fund, who render assistance ranging from immediate telephonic advice to active intervention, using a specialised medical fleet, qualified medical professionals, and portable, high-level equipment.
Should E-Med Rescue 24 or LifeLink EMS not have ambulances available or a physical presence in your town of residence, you as a NHP member will still be required to contact them at the mentioned numbers and they in return will arrange with another emergency medical evacuation provider, to be of assistance during an emergency.
E-Med Rescue 24 and Lifelink EMS provide full cover to NHP members and their beneficiaries. In an emergency call E-Med Rescue 24 or Lifelink EMS (also for 24 hour emergency advice).
Non-emergency transfers must be pre-authorised by the Fund prior to the transfer of the patient. An authorisation number will be alocated to the case and issued to the healthcare provider at the time of the request for transportation. Authorisation numbers will not be issued for cases where the member has already been transferred
If you are transported to hospital by an accredited EMS ambulance (even though approved), and on examination you are found to be fit enough to return home, you will be responsible for arranging your own transport home.
An emergency means the sudden and, at the time, unexpected onset of a health condition that requires immediate medical treatment and/ or an operation. If the treatment is not available, the emergency could result in weakened bodily functions, serious and lasting damage to organs, limbs or other body parts, or even death.

Members should note that assistance for emergency evacuation may only be requested from either E-Med Rescue 24 or LifeLink EMS and not from any other medical service provider, such as Municipal Emergency Ambulances without prior approval from the Fund. Members must correctly identify themselves as a NHP member. Under all circumstances NHP members should request assistance via any of the two emergency numbers provided.
NHP members will enjoy cover for medical emergencies, both by road and air evacuation, in the SADC region and internationally (Angola, Botswana, DR Congo, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe). In addition, members will also be covered by emergency medical evacuation in the event of a motor vehicle accident.
